Choice Mutual Rating

Choice Mutual’s ratings are determined by our editorial team. The scoring formula considers consumer experience, policy cost, underwriting criteria, the insurer’s financial strength ratings, and complaint data.

If you need final expense insurance, Metlife cannot help you.

But thankfully there are dozens of other final expense insurance companies that can help.

Does Metlife Offer Burial Insurance?

At present, Metlife does not offer final expense insurance.

While the date is unknown, Metlife chose to exit the final expense insurance market sometime after 2014.

They do sell life insurance. Per their website, they offer the following life products:

  • Term life
  • Group variable universal life
  • Group universal life
  • Accidental death

Burial life insurance is notably absent from their product lineup.

In 2017, Metlife separated its U.S. retail business by launching Brighthouse Financial.

From that point on, Brighthouse Financial began operating independently of Metlife.

Brighthouse also does not offer final expense life insurance for seniors.

The Best Burial Insurance Companies

As stated, Metlife does not offer final expense life insurance.

Check out the following companies if you need insurance to cover your cremation or burial expenses.

Each of them made our list of the best burial insurance companies because of their financial ratings, underwriting, prices, and customer service track records.

Choice Mutual Rating

Superior

Choice Mutual’s ratings are determined by our editorial team. The scoring formula considers consumer experience, policy cost, underwriting criteria, the insurer’s financial strength ratings, and complaint data.

AM Best’s Financial Strength Rating (FSR) is an independent opinion of an insurer’s financial strength and ability to meet its ongoing insurance policy and contract obligations. The scores range from A++ to D-.

The BBB rating is based on information BBB is able to obtain about the business, including complaints received from the public. BBB seeks and uses information directly from businesses and from public data sources. BBB assigns ratings from A+ (highest) to F (lowest). If a business has been accredited by the BBB, it means BBB has determined that the business meets accreditation standards, which include a commitment to make a good faith effort to resolve any consumer complaints.
