Funeral Cost Survey Data

Once users have fully accessed our quoting system, they are eventually prompted with a pop-up survey about funerals. They are asked the following six questions:

  1. In the last 3 years, have you had personal experience dealing with (paying for or being privy to) the cost of a funeral for someone you know?
  2. Was the funeral a burial or cremation?
  3. In what state was the funeral held?
  4. To the best of your knowledge, what was the total cost of the funeral?
  5. Was there a funeral service (memorial, viewing, etc)?
  6. Did the total funeral cost seem higher, lower, or about what you expected?

Users who respond ‘no’ to the first question are disqualified from completing the rest of the survey. Only those who click ‘yes’ can complete the remaining five questions. We track each user’s IP address and email address upon completing the survey so that we can prevent them from completing another survey for the next 6 months. If by some chance they were able to access the survey and complete another one within the 6-month time frame, our system would totally disregard their data. We do this to ensure data quality, so no one can spam our system and skew the figures.

This proprietary funeral cost data is used in our funeral cost article and cremation cost article. At no point is a user’s personal information (name, email, IP address, or phone numbers) ever disclosed when we use this internal data for marketing purposes. This data, when used, is labeled as “Consumer-reported”.

***Usage of our proprietary funeral cost data without proper attribution is strictly prohibited. Any mention or use of our internal data must include a reference to the company (Choice Mutual) and a do-follow backlink to the URL on our website where the proprietary data appears.

Non-Binding Quotes

The information on this website is for educational purposes, and insurance quotes are non-binding.

Product Availability

Not all products are available in all states. Product eligibility for each provider varies based on the following factors: the insured’s resident state, age, gender, and medical underwriting restrictions.

Policies With No Waiting Period

All plans with no waiting period or a partial waiting period require underwriting approval and are subject to the incontestability period. All guaranteed acceptance plans with no health questions will be subject to the insurer’s defined waiting period before benefits become payable under the policy provisions.

Compensation Methods

As an insurance agency, Choice Mutual receives a commission from our insurance partners for every policy we sell. Without us, the insurance companies would not have a customer. The policies we sell do not cost more because we helped you, and our advisory services are free. The exact amount we get paid for each sale varies depending on the applicant’s age, health, and the specific product applied for.

We never recommend products based on which one pays us the most. Instead, we suggest products based on the applicant’s needs and desires. In addition to generating revenue from insurance sales, we also earn a referral fee by directing some of our insurance prospects to our partner, Heartland Financial Group. Choice Mutual does not earn money by referring users to other websites, by displaying ads on our website, or through any other means not already outlined.
