We have compiled some funeral insurance quotes online from five different insurance companies. There’s a few things to remember when you look at these rates for final life expense insurance.

  • All prices are for people who would say no to the health questions with each of these companies.
  • Burial insurance rates are determined by your exact age. Clearly not every single as is shown. However you can see prices for an age that is relatively close to however old you are right now. Expect that your rate wouldn’t be too far off from whatever age shown is closest to you.

Immediate Coverage Vs A Waiting Period

If you have spent any time researching final expense insurance, you have no doubt learned what we are about to tell you.

Some companies offer coverage that has no waiting period, and some make you wait 2 years before your policy will pay any benefits.

We get asked all time about this. People want to know why sometimes there is a waiting period and why other times there isn’t.

So here’s the deal

There are indeed some situations (health related) where a person cannot avoid a waiting period of some type. However, situations that warrant a waiting period are rare. The truth is most people can and do qualify for a burial policy that has no waiting period of any kind.

At the end of the day, there just aren’t that many situations where a waiting period cannot be avoided. Below are the majority of those reasons.

1) No Health Question Policies$18,000 Burial Insurance

If you take out a policy that has no health questions, it will have a two year waiting period. It does not matter which company you go through.

You will not find any insurer that offers a no health question policy that protects you at all during the first two years.

These are commonly referred to as guaranteed issue or guaranteed acceptance life insurance.

Basically the insurer just blind issues the policy as long as you meet the age requirements and are of sound mind to enter into a legal contract. There is no medical underwriting of any kind.

Here’s some common companies that offer this kind of coverage:

  • AARP
  • Colonial Penn
  • Gerber Life
  • AIG
  • Mass Mutual
  • Mutual Of Omaha
  • Physicians Mutual
  • AAA Life Insurance (The Auto Insurance Company)

Here’s the bottom line regarding no health question policies

The vast majority of applicants should not be buying a guaranteed issue policy. Most applicants can easily qualify with for immediate coverage with some company. The only question is, which one will do it?

2) Certain Health Issues

Some health conditions are so high risk that no insurer will offer immediate coverage. If you deal with any of the following, you cannot avoid a waiting period.

There may be some other health situations outside of this list, but this pretty much covers most of them.

If none of the following conditions apply to you, there is very likely a company out there that has immediate coverage for you.

  • Cancer Within The Last 24 Months (Basal Cell Is Ok)
  • Full Blown Stroke Within The Last 12 Months (A Mini Stroke/ TIA Attack Does Not Count)
  • Heart Attack Within The Last 12 Months
  • A Heart Or Circulatory Surgery Within The Last 12 Months
  • Angina (Chest Pains) Within The Last 12 Months
  • Dialysis
  • HIV Or Aids
  • Organ Or Tissue Transplant
  • Congestive Heart Failure
  • Oxygen Use (Except For Sleep Apnea)
  • Currently In A Nursing Home
  • Wheelchair Usage Because Of Chronic Illness Or Disease

If you deal with any of the above conditions, a guaranteed issue policy is either your only option or your best one.
